Alaska Backcountry Adventures allows you to plan your perfect vacation. You may book as many full or half days during your vacation period as you wish, this is called a Flex Pack. Your names will be on our priority list just below the our full package clients. If you choose one of our packages, your stay will include no cost down day activities on weather days and our highest priority positions assuring you of getting out when the conditions are the best. These down day activities may include skiing the road runs, snowcat skiing, glacier exploration, kite boarding instruction, snowmobile tours, fishing boat excursions, ice climbing, dog sledding, sea kayaking on Prince William Sound . Each daily activity is scheduled vendor availability and current weather conditions. Every non-flyable day will offer the best activities for that day.

These packages also include down day activities on the days that are unsuitable for flying. For longer vacations we offer ten days out of fourteen days. All of our packages offer lodging in either private motor homes or hotels. Please see the rate schedule below for our complete package pricing and booking policies. "Flex pack” Packages include your lodging and as many full or half days as you choose. You may use your ski days as you wish and may schedule your lodging for as long as you choose. You may sit back and wait for “The Day”. Your priority on the days you choose to fly will be right below the Full Effect Package guests provided you reserve the day before you wish to fly. We cannot guarantee that space will be available on the day that you choose with this package but your priority will be above all float and walk in guests so on most occasions you will be able to choose your time to fly. Float Certificates offer the ultimate in flexibility for locals and travelers who simply wish to place a floating reservation to be used when you see fit. You may purchase float certificates for full days, half days, or single runs in books of ten runs. These float certificates place your name on our priority list so that you may have a seat on the helicopter before any of our many walk in guests. Please simply let us know the day before you wish to fly with us so that we may put you on our schedule. Walk in guests are always welcome at ABA , based on available space at the time. We tend to be very busy on the best days and there is not always space available on these days. As a walk in guest you may fly a full day, half day, or single run. Often you may have to wait at the base while we form a group for you or for the helicopter to return to the base for the single runs option. Full Day, half day, and single runs information Our full day packages begin at 8am and include an average of six runs and are in excess of 20,000 vertical feet. Your full day includes a guided helicopter skiing adventure, on mountain snacks, and a complimentary fresh and delicious bar-b-que lunch when you return to our base. Our full day packages sell for 675.00 per day. The full day package designed to explore the range and you will ski and snowboard deeper and in more areas than anyone else. The groups work closely to travel deep into the Chugach supporting each other and finally moving back towards the road for the last run of the day. You may choose to continue to ski or snowboard for the discounted price of 95.00 per run. Due to the phenomenal skiing directly surrounding the ABA base we are able to offer an afternoon half-day adventure. A half-day includes three consecutive guided runs into the range and is in excess of ten thousand vertical feet. A Half-Day sells for 350.00 and you may continue to ski beyond your three runs for the discounted price of 95.00 per run. Half day adventures begin at 2pm, remember that the spring days are very long, in the late season we can ski until nine o'clock in the evening. ABA is the only place where you can ski just one single run because of the incredible terrain, which leads naturally down to the highway on Thompson Pass. The single run can be on moderate angled intermediate runs or some of the most dramatic expert terrain anywhere. The most technical terrain is reserved for those clients who we have had the opportunity to learn their abilities from a few runs together. Often there is single run availability at various times throughout the day as well as in the evening light at the end of our day. The single run cost 109.00 and can be booked ahead of time in books of ten runs for 1000.00, a savings of 90.00. Due to our goal of continuing to offer the lowest cost helicopter skiing and snowboarding we have developed a fuel surcharge that is separate from our day rate. The fuel surcharge has not been included in the package rates due to the changing fuel costs which allows us to adapt to the changing fuel market. We intend to keep our fuel surcharge lower than other operators and fair to all involved. At this time we expect that our fuel surcharge will total 8.50 per run. There is a good chance that this rate will decrease, and it may increase as well due to rising helicopter fuel costs. We have guaranteed to our clients that this fuel surcharge will not exceed 10.50 per run. At the time of booking we will require only fifty percent of our current fuel surcharge, or 4.25 per run. In the event that the rate changes we will inform each client prior the remainder payment due date. Thank you for your understanding. Required Gear The following gear is required and may be rented at our base area rental shop at great prices. Please reserve any gear that you need to ensure availability. A safety kit is required and consists of an avalanche beacon, a probe, a shovel, a harness, a locking carabiner, and a pack to carry the gear in. This may be rented for 65.00 per day. Partial kits are available for rent as well as rental skis and snowboards. We recommend bringing your own gear so that you will be familiar with it's use, however you may reserve any gear you will need when you make your reservation. Gear for sale includes other necessary items such as Alaska Backcountry Adventures Logowear. Non-flyable Days Helicopter skiing relies on the weather, and when mama nature chooses to freshen up our slopes we offer many other Alaskan Adventures to experience.
