The Private Helicopter:

Your Chariot Awaits!

Private Helicopter packages offer the ability to ski whenever and wherever you wish. Putting together a like-minded group not only allows for the ultimate Alaskan heliskiing experience, it can actually equate to spending less money per run if your crew is efficient with its heli time. ABA suggests groups of eight to twelve people per private helicopter, but you may bring as many or few as you wish (it is your helicopter after all).

Private helicopter contracts are billed by the Hobbs Hour which means that you are only paying when the helicopter is flying, not sitting on the ground. Private heli-rates are $3,800 per Hobbs Hour. Groups may shut down the helicopter three times each hour without additional costs; however, there is an additional $100 fee for more than three shut downs per hour.

Private helicopter contracts are based on a two hour daily commitment and these hours can be used at anytime throughout the contract period. This means that a seven day contract is really fourteen hours over seven days. There is a five day minimum on private helicopter contracts unless special arrangements are made. There are no refunds on unused Hobbs Hours due to injury, fatigue or other circumstances.

If weather conditions do not allow half of the hours purchased to be met, your Hobbs time will be refunded at $1,300USD an hour up to half of the hours purchased.

For Example:
Out of a 10 hour contract, 5 hours would be guaranteed. If you are unable to fly those 5 guaranteed hours (due to weather ONLY) they would be refunded at $1,300USD an hour.
