Lodging Options
Our lodging packages offer three distinct styles. You may choose a hotel package, an authentic alaskan roadhouse lodging package, or the popular motorhome packages. A motorhome is a recreational vehicle or camper, which is 29 feet long. They travel nicely on the roads and include a complete kitchen, a table and chairs as well as beds to sleep up to five in comfort. Motor home packages begin and end in Anchorage with a complimentary airport pickup and tour of your private motorhome. The drive to ABA takes about four hours and is very beautiful. Motorhome rates are $139.00 per day and can sleep up to five people in comfort. If you wish to fly into Valdez and be picked up in your private motorhome there we offer this service for a $345.00 “drop fee”. The hotel is in Valdez , twenty-nine miles away, and includes a van shuttle up the pass and back in the evening hotel rates are $95.00 per night based on double occupancy. This shuttle is based on the schedule of the day and if you desire more flexibility we suggest a rental car. Alaskan roadhouses are a historic feature of the alaskan travelers experience. We are please to partner with the Tiekel River Lodge for packages which include all of your meals as well as lodging in this newly remodeled roadhouse. We offer daily shuttle from this lodge which is based deep in the Chugach. This roadhouse features a full bar and great food. Please see our package rates below for complete and convenient packages.

Please read our policies and book early, as space at ABA is limited and the earlier you book the higher priority your group will enjoy. Helicopter skiing relies on resources that are arranged well before you arrive. These resources require us to have policies that enable you to commit to your vacation so that we may commit to the resources required. Please understand the nature of this type of skiing as you read our policies. We reserve the right to be flexible in our policies given special circumstances. We recommend trip insurance for our clients. All amounts are noted in US Dollars.
Our policies… excuse us for as moment while we talk details. We at Alaska Backcountry Adventures pride ourselves on the friendliest policies available. Lodging and ski packages are listed below, but first take a look at our policies. Reservations require a deposit of fifty at the time of booking. Deposits are not refundable but may be applied towards future seasons or towards weather day activities. Most weather day activities are valued at 25% of a ski day's value. This credit is applied for all unused ski time except in the following cases. No future credit will be given if you do not show up on a fly day or decide not to fly on a fly day. No future credit will be given if we cancel your ski day after the third run due to the distance from the base that you will have traveled. If you need helicopter evacuation service for equipment failure, exhaustion, or injury you will be charged for the actual helicopter flight time at the discounted rate of $2550 Per flight hour.
The remainder of your trip cost is due sixty days prior to your arrival. Booking less than sixty days before your vacation requires payment in full at the time of your booking. Your flight schedule is prioritized according to the date that you book your trip. This means that if you book earlier than another group, you will fly out first.
Reservations cancelled prior to your trip may be transferred to a future season at a fifty percent discount. This is a necessary policy as the helicopter resources have been arranged well in advance of your trip. We appreciate your understanding. Please let us know if you wish to cancel prior to your trip due to an injury or other emergency. We offer to reschedule your trip in the event of illness or injury to the following season with the submittal of a medical report.
We reserve the right to be flexible and friendly in interpreting our policies due to the circumstances involved.
Due to our goal of continuing to offer the lowest cost helicopter skiing and snowboarding we have developed a fuel surcharge that is separate from our day rate. The fuel surcharge has not been included in the package rates due to the changing fuel costs which allows us to adapt to the changing fuel market. We intend to keep our fuel surcharge lower than other operators and fair to all involved. At this time we expect that our fuel surcharge will total 8.50 per run. There is a good chance that this rate will decrease, and it may increase as well due to rising helicopter fuel costs. We have guaranteed to our clients that this fuel surcharge will not exceed 10.50 per run. At the time of booking we will require only fifty percent of our current fuel surcharge, or 4.25 per run. In the event that the rate changes we will inform each client prior the remainder payment due date. Thank you for your understanding.
Inclusive Package Rates
Your inclusive ski and snowboard packages including lodging are listed below. ABA offers complete versatility to change these packages to reflect your desires. Please let us know if you would like to add days or create a perfect custom vacation plan for your group. Keep in kind that a group of five people fills your helicopter, which is an especially rich experience.
The Full Effect Packages are listed below. If you wish to create a custom package the rates are listed after the full effect packages. Hotel packages are listed first and are listed by the number of people in the hotel room. Motorhome packages are listed second; again the price per person is reduced with the addition of more people in the motorhome.

Flex Packages offer seven days of lodging
in either a Motorhome or a Hotel and as many full or half-day heli ski
and snowboard adventures as you wish. Create your vacation to fit your
budget, feel free to add days if you wish. This is an ABA exclusive and
is designed to make helicopter skiing an option for everybody, from the
ski bum to the professional. For these packages please add your motorhome
rate to your chosen amount of helicopter skiing. Weather day activities
are available at the rates listed earlier in this information package.

Remember that we also offer float certificates (675.00), which may be booked separately and used anytime there is space available. Single runs (109.00), may be purchased anytime there is space available.
