The Best in the Business
Our guide team has developed over the years around a core group of individuals that helped pioneer the sport of heliskiing in the Chugach Range. Many of our guides work as patrollers and avalanche forecasters at world-class ski resorts including Squaw Valley, Jackson Hole, and Bridger Bowl. All of our guides are certified Emergency Medical Technicians professionally trained in avalanche awareness and high angle rescue skills. Our guides have been selected for their experience and attitude. We believe that having a humble ego opens a person up to a more intimate relationship with the mountains and with our clients. If a guide is not fun to be with in the mountains, you will not find them guiding at ABA. Our guide team will lead you and your group safely by identifying the potential hazards so that you may avoid them while exploring the beautiful Chugach Range. Your time with us will begin with a detailed safety talk, which covers traveling in glacial and avalanche terrain, loading and unloading the helicopter, and working as a team to aid in a rescue situation. This list of guides does not exhaust our guide list but these are the faces that you see everyday at ABA.

One of the original heliski guides in Alaska, Jerry has more descents and first descents in the Chugach Range than anyone on the planet. Jerry's quiet nature and relaxed style allows you to be comfortable and relaxed as he takes you to the most exciting terrain imaginable.
Another of Alaska's original heliski guides and founding member of the Jackson Hole Air Force, Wavie has a fun attitude that makes you feel like a kid in a candy store as he shows you the many runs that he pioneered.

Another pioneer of Alaskan Heliskiing and boarding, Danny is skilled, experienced, very funny, and always a pleasure to be with in the mountains. A unique blend of Mountain Cowboy who has been guiding in the Chugach Range for more than a dozen years. Originally guiding with Doug Coombs we welcomed him to the ABA family many years ago and he fits right in with our friendly and relaxed atmosphere.

3B is a relaxed and humble guide who is regularly requested at ABA. His skill set has been honed with career ski patrol experience at Squaw Valley and as a lead guide at Pacific Crest Snowcats. Skiing with Paul you may come to understand why we call him 3 Ball, it ain't stock... its aftermarket.
With his roots as a ski patroller decades ago before he became a lead guide at Pacific Crest Snowcats, Ken found his way to Thompson Pass and now manages the operations of ABA. He is a skilled guide and is always there to help our guests with any problem and has helped make the operations seamless for many years now.

A year round guide who is one of the few Alaskan Heli guides who lives in Valdez. He is also one of the few snowboard guides who make Alaska their playground.
